A Widespread Lavatory Faucet is available in many different designs and colors.  You can choose from traditional and contemporary designs.  A Widespread lavatory faucet is more elegant and typically will cost more than a regular lavatory faucet.  A widespread lavatory faucet has a spout in the center with a separate cold water and hot water control handle.  It typically mounts in eight-inch drilling.  Depending on the model they can be mounted in a twelve-inch or wider configuration.  A Widespread lavatory faucet will usually come with a matching pop-up drain assembly.  I recommend making sure the faucet you buy comes with a pop-up of brass construction.  Brass pop-ups are far superior to plastic pop-ups.
