A Septic Pump is used in a pump septic system. This is required when the Leach Field is higher than the Septic Tank. The waste from your house drains into a septic tank. The Septic Tank retains the solids while the liquids (called effluent) run into a second tank. The Septic Pump is installed in the second tank. It pumps the effluent up to the Leach Field. The Septic pump is typically installed with two float switches. The lower float switch controls the pump. The upper float switch connects to the pump alarm box. If your pump or pump float switch fails the effluent will rise to the level of the alarm float switch and set off the alarm. The piping from the Septic Effluent Pump has a union to disconnect the pump and riser. It has a check valve so the effluent can only flow out. It has a ball valve to isolate the pump from the outgoing line when the pump needs service.
