Disposal (Food Grinder) Repair

Is your disposal leaking and need repair? A food grinder disposal is a great way to add convenience to your kitchen. However, be aware that this type of product is typically not installed in homes with a septic system. It is time to replace a disposal when it leaks. Often times a food grinder can jam. The Badger Insinkerator Disposal food grinder comes with an S shaped Allen Key. I use this Allen wrench key to try to break a jam free by inserting it into the Allen Key socket located in the center of the bottom exterior face of the disposal.

Disposal Sizing

Food Grinder Disposals come in different sizes. 1/3 hp is typically the smallest entry level unit. I recommend the 1/2 hp or larger for my customer’s home kitchens. Commercial kitchens will require a substantially larger unit.

InSinkErator Food Grinder Disposal

Insinkerator is a readily available good quality disposal. Check your model’s specifications but most have stainless steel insides and a longer warranty.

Badger Food Grinder Disposal

Badger is Insinkerator’s entry level model. It works well but typically it is not stainless inside. Its warranty is not as long as the Insinkerator but it is a good option with a lower cost.
